Steve Jones: Before Quixtar

Some people dream of wealth, power, and fame. Since high school, Steve and Laurie Jones have dreamed of spending time together.  Simple as this sounds, for more than a decade, education and employment kept them apart.

“Now, we spend every day together, doing things we like to do,” says Steve Jones. Quixtar’s Independent Business Ownership Plan enabled the Jones’ to establish their own business and to change their lives.

“Laurie and I’ve been friends since we met in junior high in our home-town of Bellingham, Washington,” says Steve.  We didn’t see much of each other during college because she went to local schools while I attended Portland State University in Oregon.”

While at PSU, Steve studied marketing and played football as a wide receiver.  During his senior year, he led the Western Conference in receiving by catching 50 passes, six of which were for touchdowns.  His success encouraged him to pursue a personal dream: professional football.

“It you’re not a Heisman Trophy winner or a first-round draft choice, competition is pretty stiff,” explains Steve.  Unfortunately Steve didn’t make it into professional football, instead he found himself working 50 – 60 hours a week as a driver for a delivery company, leaving him little time to spend with Laurie and his family.

Steve Jones: Quixtar Opportunity

If anyone was looking for a new opportunity, it was Steve Jones. Quixtar became that opportunity. Quixtar and the IBO Business Plan.

“We saw the business as a way for me to work at home,” says Laurie. “That was important for us, because we didn’t want anyone else to raise our children.”

Following the successful examples of their mentors, Steve and Laurie soon reached Emerald.

“It was then I left my job,” says Steve Jones. “Quixtar had opened the door to our
dreams.”

Steve Jones: Quixtar Diamond

Now Quixtar Diamonds, Steve and Laurie’s life centers on their family, Nicholas Jones (19), Keenan Jones (15), and Michael Jones (11).  “Steve loves to scrimmage and shoot hoops in the backyard with the neighborhood kids,” says Laurie.  “We live a short drive from the Pacific Ocean, so Steve and I often go there during the week, when it’s quiet and we can enjoy the beach.”
